Lime-tree
Lime tree is dedicated to Venus, goddess of love and fertility, maybe because its leaves have the shape of a heart. Lime tree flowers are famous for their calming, soothing, antispasmodic and slimming properties. The Baronnies region produces 75% of France's lime-tree flowers, that is 50 metric tons per year. The traditional and family harvest occurs from mid-June to mid-July and offers a nice sight with its great ladders put up against the trees. One tree produces 10 kg of dry flowers for 10 to 20 hours of harvest! You need 4 kg of fresh flowers to get 1 kg of dry flowers. The most famous variety is "Bénivay" (named after its village of origin) and has very scented flowers.
